North of 7 River Run
12 km & 23 km courses run on the beautiful, deep, winding York River and on Baptiste Lake, ending by the Waddle & Daub Cafe in Riverside Park, downtown Bancroft. The shorter courses on the river have no portages while the race starting on the lake also features a river section with swifts; some must be portaged, and some can be run, depending upon water levels. The river has deep and shallow sections, twists and technical elements. The lake section is deep and can have waves. All funds raised go to help support the not for profit Bancroft Community Transits’ transportation for children and youth in the community and for employment and social programs that foster social inclusion. For more on this worthy cause see: http://www.bancroftcommunitytransit.com/
Saturday races are on the river only following the York River to Riverside Park. Sunday races are on lake then river with up to three portages. The course is lake paddling for 8.6 km, portage 1.5 km and continues down the York River for 13.1 km to the finish line at Riverside Park in Bancroft.
1.3 km, 3 km and 6 km community races on Saturday start and finish in Riverside Park.
The North of 7 River Run is proud to host the Marathon Paddle Racing Provincial Championships. All are welcome to participate in the Provincials. To receive Marathon Provincial medals, however, participants must be members in good standing of the Ontario Marathon Canoe Kayak Racing Association.
